2010 Offensive Line Rankings and Analysis

The following offensive line rankings were determined based on a number of factors which include the new additions to the offensive line, injuries suffered last season, the durability of the line, the average age of the line and the depth of the line. The offensive lines have been divided in six groups and teams in each group are listed in alphabetical order. To further understand each line, click on the team name and it will lead you to a detailed analysis of the offensive line.

  2 all-star tackles; 2 good players battling for 3 spots inside; won't be much better than last year but very safe.

  2 first round picks will upgrade this line; 3 backups capable of starting; excellent upside and very safe.

  Everyone who played last year will be back but 2009 1st rounder Andre Smith should be an upgrade at RT.

  Left side of the line is all back, Pashos will be an upgrade at RT and Delhomme will make the line look better.
Miami Dolphins 4.4 34 26.6 - 27.4 1 Slightly Better Same Good Very Good
  2 all-star tackles; 2 good players battling for 3 spots inside; won't be much better than last year but very safe.
New York Jets 4.5 30 27.2 1 Slightly Better Same Very Good Poor
  2 all-star tackles; 2 good players battling for 3 spots inside; won't be much better than last year but very safe.
St. Louis Rams 4.3 44 25.4 - 26.4 0 - 1 Slightly Better Better Fair Good
  4.5 YPC and 29 sacks in 13 games with Bell; Smith is an upgrade at LT; could surprise if healthy.

 

Fair

  All 5 starters are back on the roster but Smiley could steal one of those jobs inside; no good backup at tackle.
Kansas City Chiefs 4.4 45 28.0 - 30.0 1 - 2 Slightly Better Better Fair Mediocre
  This line looked very good in the 2nd half and 4 starters are back but not sure if they can keep it up.
New York Giants 4.1 32 30.4 3 Slightly Better Slightly Better Good Fair
  5 starters back, 4.3 YPC and 15 sacks in 10 full games with starters last year; should be similar to that in 2010.
Seattle Seahawks 4.0 41 27.2 1 Better Slightly Better Fair Good
  Okung will be a nice upgrade at LT; one good versatile backup; new zone blocking scheme should help.

 

Mediocre

  Pass protection will be slightly better than last year if Clady is healthy, otherwise it'll be quite worse.

  All 5 starters from the final 7 games will be on roster, if changes are made it will be for the better.
Houston Texans 3.5 25 25.8 0 Better Same Very Good Good
  All 5 starters from 2nd half of season will be back but they are very young and should improve.
Minnesota Vikings 4.1 34 28.2 3 Same Same Good Fair
  5 starters back, should play pretty much like they did last year.
Philadelphia Eagles 4.3 38 27.0 - 27.2 0 - 1 Same Slightly Better Good Fair
  Jackson will miss a good portion of the season; the length of his absence will determine how this line does.
Washington Redskins 3.9 46 28.4 2 Better Better Good Good
  3 upgrades compared to last year; one of the most improved o-lines in the NFL.

Poor

  Line will be very similar to last year except for a few minor changes, will have one good backup.
Detroit Lions 4.0 43 28.6 2 Slightly Better Slightly Better Fair Mediocre
  4 starters back, Sims will be a big improvement at LG but everyone needs to stay healthy.
Oakland Raiders 4.1 49 26.4 - 28.2 2 - 3 Slightly Better Slightly Better Good Good
  Return of Gallery will help; much more depth than last year but starters don't seem any better.
Pittsburgh Steelers 4.2 50 26.8 1 Same Same Good Mediocre
  1st round pick Pouncey will be an upgrade at RG but injury to Colon hurts even more; need to sign another RT.
San Diego Chargers 3.3 26 26.4 - 28.2 0 - 1 Better Slightly Worse Fair Very Good
  Pass protection will be same as last year if LT McNeill signs, otherwise it'll be quite worse.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 4.0 33 26.6 0 Slightly Better Slightly Worse Good Poor
  All 5 starters back, little depth, Penn still unsigned. Shouldn't be much different than last year.
